Basketball-NBA:
- This week’s games:
- We started the week with a shocker! The 12-23 Hornets crushed the Thunder 124-97. That’s only OKC’s 7th loss of the season. Sounds like an off night for the Thunder. The Pistons also crushed the Knicks by 31. The Raptors over the Hawks by 18 nd the Trail Blazers by 20 over the Jazz. The Nuggets scored 29 in 3Qs but 33 in the 4th to take the 76s to OT and get the win by 1.
- Some of the highest scorer of the week was Murphy for NOLA on Tues with 42 points but that wouldn’t be enough to beat the Lakers 111-103 on Tues. SGA had a bounce back game for OKC with 46 points. Good thing too because the Jazz still managed to get them to OT. OKC did manage to win but it was a close one. Trail Blazers Avdija scored 41 also on Wed in their 1-point win over the Rockets.
- On Thursday, there were 3 games. And all were close (within 10 points). The Pacers beat the Hornets and the Jazz beat the Mavericks by 2. The TWolves put up 43 in the 3Q to win their game over the Cavs. There was supposed to be a 4th game between the Heat and Bulls but that game was postponed due to court condensation. TBD on a new date for that.
- The Cavs/TWolves game on Sat was if not the highest one of the highest scoring of the week. The TWolves got 134 points and lost! The Timberwolves were on a roll this week with a close game (and win) over the Spurs on Sunday too That’s a solid win for MN. The Cavs got the upset by 12 points. The Pacers crushed the Heat 123-99. Funny that the Heat had 27 in 3/4Qs but lose to a team with only 8 wins. The Hornets put the smack down on the Jazz with a 150 game while Utah didn’t even make it to the triple digits.
- Trae Young has been traded to the Wizards after playing with the Hawks since he went pro.

Basketball – NCAA:
- Tuesday was crazy! There were 6 losses in the Top 25 that day alone!
- #6 Duke didn’t lead til 6 min into the 2H. #20 Louisville kicked their butt in the 1H but they quickly dissipated in the 2H. Louisville led by 12 at one point and without their star. Duke went 26-6 to start 2H. Blue Devils end up winning by 11.
- #7 Uh and #14 Texas tech was a low scoring game 69-65. Houston is 46-1 in home games and TT was that lone loss. They would avenge that here.
- Texas am 90-auburn 88. That is auburns 6th loss. Auburn literally thought they got the basket to win but the refs call it no good. Ball was still in Murphys hands but the ball went in so there was some confusion.
- #19 Iowa lost to Minnesota by 3 and is now 2-2 in the Big ten. Their 1H was only 24 points – ugh! They would also lose on Sunday but this time to a team that they were supposed to (#16 Illinois). Illinois has won 10 of the last 11 in this matchup.
- #25 UCF broke into the rankings with the Kansas win last week but they would lose to Oklahoma St by 9.
- Florida was recently unranked and then beat #18 Georgia just to spoil their fun. The Gators had a 51 point 2H to beat the Dawgs by 15. The Gators would go on to beat #21 Tennessee later in the week by 24 as well so maybe Florida is starting to turn it around.
- Close calls: Kansas TCU went to OT. 13 teams ever have won by trailing by 15 points with 5 to go. Peterson didn’t start Ot but got 32 points in 32 min. TCU has 18-1 run in 2H. Michigan got scared with an escape over Penn st only by 2. Which for a team who has been winning by 30 points, is a close call.
- #11 Vanderbilt gets their first huge ranked win on Wednesday. Tey would beat the #13 Alabama team to continue their undefeated run. They would be tied at halftime at 43 but Vandy then went off with a 53 2H to win by 6. Alabama would drop another game on Saturday to unranked Texas. Texas would win in both halves, scoring 46 in both. That would give the Horns the win by 4. Newly ranked #24 SMU tripped up and dropped one to Clemson who is now 13-3 on the season. They would drop another game to #6 Duke on Saturday, The Blue Devils scored 41 in both halves to win by 7.
- Huge upset on Saturday. #2 Michigan lost at home to Wisconsin as an 18 point fav by 3 and a Quad 2 loss. So if we see a huge drop in their rankings, that is likely why for taking their 1st #15 Arkansas got annihilated by Auburn in a 22 point loss. While we know Auburn is no longer ranked, they are a though team that you really don’t get a ton of credit for beating anymore. #22 Kansas looked to have their game in hand but WV came back to win by 11 in the 2H outscoring the Jayhawks 47-32 in the 2H.

Football – NCAAF:
- CFP Semifinals:
- Fiesta Bowl: The game started out a little slow with only Miami managing a FG in the 1Q but then we got rolling. Ole Miss needed 2 plays to score the first TD of the game. Miami answered. Rebels got a FG, Canes got a TD. The quarter would end with Ole Miss making a 58 yard FG. While that was impressive, there were 2 missed FGs in the 3rd but Ole Miss would get the INT to another 54 yard FG to bring the score to 16-17 going into the final 15 minutes. Ole Miss would take the lead with another FG with 7 minutes to go 19-17. That FG felt like a failure though as they were on the 4 yard line. Then things got even more interesting. Miami would score in 4 plays, Ole Miss would need 6. They would also get the 2-point conversion to make it a 3 point lead. So the Canes get the ball back with 3:13 to go, a FG ties it, a TD wins and no score losses. Miami would travel down the field with 4 3rd down plays including a huge 17 yard pass on 3rd and 10. Canes would score the go-ahead TD with just 18 seconds left to be up by 4. The Rebels would get down to the 35 in remaining 12 seconds so Chambliss had to throw a hail mary. As per usual, the pass goes incomplete and Miami wins 31-27. Miami will become the first team to ever play for a championship in their home stadium!

-
- Peach Bowl #5 Oregon vs #1 Indiana: 2nd play of the game, Dante Moore threw an INT for an IU pick 6. Oregon would answer with a 14 play drive to tie it up. The Hoosiers would answer with their own 75 yard drive TD. Oregon would have their 2nd turnover of the game on their own 13 which would lead to another IU TD, after that it was extremely lopsided. Indiana would only punt 3xs in this game and would go to their first national championship easily winning this one 56-22.

Football – NFL:
- Wild card games – NFC:
- The Rams vs Panthers is what opened the Wild Card Game weekend. The Rams scored a TD in the 1Q and that ended up being the difference. The teams were evenly matched despite the Rams being favored by 10 points. The Panthers scored 2 TDs in the 2Q to bring the game to within 4 points but after that the teams would trade scores – literally ending the Qs with the same amount of points. Obvioulsy that wasn’t enough for NC to make up the points and the Rams are the first team to advance on.

-
- The Packers looked like they were going to continue the streak of Bears losing playoff games. At one points the Packers led by 18 points and the Bears had two turnovers. However in the 4Q, CHI came back to score 25 points! They would take their first lead with just 1:42 to go in the game 31-27 and that would be enough to win!
- Similarly, the 49ers would have two turnovers in their game against the Eagles but it wouldn’t matter. The reigning champs missed an extra point to start the game and that would kind personify this game for them. But they would be leading after a 9-min 16 play drive in the 2Q to go up 13-7. They would still have the lead in the 4Q but only by 6. They would lose that lead within 8 seconds of starting the 4Q. Eagles then had a 3&out but Niners threw an INT which lead to a Eagles leading FG (19-17). But the final score of the game would be a 10 play 5-min drive to score the TD for SF to take the 23-19 lead and knock out the reigning champs.

- Wild Card Games – AFC:
- The Bills/Jags game was back and forth. As a matter of fact the two teams scored the same amount of points in 3 of the 4Qs. There were 7 lead changes in this game. But the Bills had the ball in the final 2 min of the game and needed a tush-push 4th down to get the TD but they manage it to take the 27-24 lead. The Jags were then driving down the field with just over a minute to go when Trevor Lawrence threw an INT to seal it. Turns out that the INT to a Bills FG in the 1Q was the difference maker. The Bills get their first playoff win on the road in 33 years.
- All the wild card games up to this point had come down to 1 score. The Chargers/Pats game would break that! The 1H would be only FGs with the Pats leading 6-3 into the locker room. That FG in the 2Q would be the only points the Chargers would score. The Pats piled on in the 2H to take this low scoring game 16-3. And before you think this may have come down to turnovers, it really didn’t. The Pats had 2 vs LA’s 1. The Chargers just couldn’t move the ball. They would only have 207 yards of offense, be 1/10 on 3rd downs and 1/3 on 4ths. Both teams went scoreless when in the redzone. It was just an ugly low scoring game.

Olympic Sports:
- Skiing: SUI Marco Odermott won his home slalom race in the World Cup circuit for the 5th year in a row. That is a record and he won by .49 seconds. NED Hirscher has officially ended his come back for the Olympics after tearing his ACL. On the women’s side, Lindsay Vonn won her 2nd downhill WC race, putting her in great shape going into Milan next month. She won by .37 seconds going fastest of any woman on course at 81 mph.
- Figure Skating: USAs was in St. Louis this past week. No surprise, Ilia Malinin has a nearly perfect short program to win. While Amber Glenn won her 3rd straight US title. She is the first back to back winner since Michelle Kwan in 2005. Alysa Liu took 2nd and 3rd was Isabeau Levito so those will likely be your 3 reps for Team USA.

Quick Highlights:
- NFL: The Ravens have fired John Harbaugh who had been their HC since 2008 and lead the team to a Super Bowl in 2012. His overall record with the team was 180-113.
